Getaway: Bora Bora
CEO & Creative Director Meg Partridge, wearing the Marathia maxi, details a recent trip to Bora Bora.
There is no better word to describe Bora Bora, the mythical island tucked away in the South Pacific, than paradise. The floating overwater villas, the sparkling turquoise lagoons, the sweet fragrant embrace of tiare blossoms and the calming, rhythmic lapping of the sea - it's hard not to fall in love right away.
Bora Bora is a volcanic formation that emerged about 3 million years ago, and its most prominent feature is Mount Otemanu. After a leisurely hike to a lookout point near our bungalow, we witnessed a double rainbow peeking out from behind Mount Otemanu, as if in a dream. It was absolutely breathtaking.
Snorkeling is the activity of choice in Bora Bora, and I made a point of going out on the water with my underwater camera every day. Life in the pristine coral reefs is enchanting. I spent hours on end soaking in the vibrant colors and finding inspiration in the textures and patterns of sea life. The water is so clear, it looks like the fish are flying on air beneath you!
The eve of my departure was the perfect time to break out the Marathia maxi dress, one of my favorite pieces from Deià's first capsule collection. With its sumptuous handwoven silk, artistic floral print, and gently flowing skirt, it makes you feel like you're floating on a cloud - an utterly romantic sensation that captures the spirit of this special place where time stands still.
As the sun descended over the bungalows, I breathed in deeply and took a moment to admire the pink and purple watercolor skies. Paradise, found.
